Cotswold Way Double - 204 miles in 50hrs 40mins 18 secs

16th September 2018

David Mitchell, an integral member of the Cotswold Running volunteer team, completed the first unbroken double traverse of the Cotswold Way on September 10th. The 51 year old, of Wickhamford, Worcestershire, first attempted the 204 mile challenge in April 2017, but unseasonably hot weather and an early knock resulted in abandonment at 164 miles.

This year's run began in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire at 8:00 on September 8th. Accompanied by at least one other runner throughout, Mitchell ran the southbound route in 22:29 before stopping briefly for a photo and turning around for the return journey. The northbound leg took 28:11, giving a fastest (only) known time for the double Cotswold Way of 50:40:18.  The challenge was tracked with a Race Drone GPS device.
