Cleveland Way Diversion north west of Skinningrove

26th March 2015

The Cleveland Way is now diverted north west of Skinningrove as part of a major £3.8 million scheme to reduce the risk of coastal erosion to more than 180 properties in Skinningrove.

The scheme involves the reconstruction of exisiting defences and the extension of rock armour around the jetty to protect it during stormy conditions as well as protecting the cliff behind the Cleveland Way from erosion.

The work is likely to last until October 2015, but it is good news overall for Cleveland Way users as the height of the trail will be raised, which means it should avoid future damage from storm conditions.

The details of the diversion are shown on the pdf download
