The 50th Birthday Countdown begins - starting with our Film Competition

24th May 2018

Today, 24th May 2018 it is the 49th Birthday of the Cleveland Way and we kick off the countdown to our big 50th Birthday celebrations in a years time.

Next year we will be hosting a series of events, talks, competitions and exhibitions including:

  • WalkFest 2019, the North York Moors National Park's annual Walking Festival dedicated entirely to the Cleveland Way
  • "Art to Go" summer exhibition at the National Park's Inspired by .... gallery in Danby
  • Sand art sculpture
  • Redcar & Cleveland Walking Festival

To kick off the festivities with a year to go, we're launching a film competition this May 2018. Open to amateurs and professionals, students and businesses, we’re looking for filmmakers to show us their interpretation of the Cleveland Way and make a film that depicts the life, beauty and uniqueness of the nation’s favourite national trail.

The original Cleveland Way public information film was made in the 1970s and a lot has changed since then. You can view the original film here.

It doesn’t matter what your budget is, if you’re a film student or a film production company, we want to see them all. The competition is open to film schools (this includes A Level), film academics, graduates, film groups and professional filmmakers.

Your film MUST be two minutes or less in duration.

The competition will be open from 9am on Thursday 24 May 2018 until 5pm on Friday 30 November 2018.

All the details on how to enter the competition can be found on the North York Moors National Park website
