Nigel Braithwaite from Beverley has laid down the gauntlet as he sets his sights on running the fastest official time for the 79 miles of the Yorkshire Wolds Way in winter conditions. At 3pm on 28th January Nigel will set off from Hessle, hoping to reach Filey in less than 24 hours.
"I hope that a new record will inspire others to follow me and try to beat my time" he said.
Nigel is carrying out the ultrarun in aid of the Childrens Heart Surgery fund. This is a cause close to his heart as his son was born with the heart condition non compaction cardiomyopathy and required heart surgery at just 6 weeks of age.
Nigel will be supported in his endeavour by members of the Beverley Athletic Club.
