Walk of the Month - August1st August 2014
With Summer now well under way we are delighted to suggest to you this months Walk of the Month which is the 7 1/2 mile Market Weighton Try a Trail Circular Walk.
This is easy to reach by bus, with connections from Hull, Beverley and York
This walk covers fairly easy terrain, whilst taking in some superb historical sections of the Yorkshire Wolds Way. Here you can walk in the footsteps of the Market Weighton Giant. William Bradley stood an incredible 7 feet and 9 inches tall. At sleepy Goodmanham you will be visiting the birthplace of northern Christianity. Here also is the award winning Goodmanham Arms Pub – a walker’s favourite. ( www.goodmanhamarms.co.uk ) The walk also takes you through the most attractive parkland and estate village of Londesborough.

• Duration: allow 4 to 4 1/2 hours
• Difficulty: This is an easy circular walk
How to reach Market Weighton by Bus
Market Weighton is really easy to reach from Hull and York using the Wicstun Express X4, or from Beverley using to X46.
Our suggested itineraries are as follows
From Hull (Mondays to Saturdays)
Catch the X4 from Hull (Paragon Interchange) at 9.45am. This arrives at Market Weighton at 10.48am.
Enjoy your walk, with time to look around Market Weighton and Londesborough and to visit the Goodmanham Arms and then catch the X4 4.36pm bus back to Hull.
From York (Monday to Saturdays)
Catch the X4 from York (Railway Station) at 8.46am. This arrives at Market Weighton at 9.34am.
There is plenty of time to enjoy your walk, including looking around Londesborough and visiting the Goodmanham Arms. (Tip: It’s probably best to follow the walk in a clockwise direction going to Londesborough, then Goodmanham, in order to be at Goodmanham when the pub is open) Catch the X4 bus back to York at 2.50pm. This gets back to York at 3.40pm.
From Beverley (Monday to Saturdays)
Catch the X46 9.42am bus from Sow Hill Bus Station, arriving at Market Weighton at 10.04. Enjoy Market Weighton and the villages of Goodmanham and Londesborough at your leisure. Catch the 4.07pm X46 bus back to Beverley, which arrives at 4.34pm
From Hull & Beverley (Sundays and Bank Holidays)
Catch the X46 at 9.00am from Hull Interchange or at 9.37am bus from Sow Hill Bus Station, arriving at Market Weighton at 9.59am. Enjoy Market Weighton and the villages of Goodmanham and Londesborough at your leisure. Catch the 3.54pm X46 bus home, which arrives in Beverley at 4.18pm and in Hull at 4.50pm.
