The historic Swan Upping ceremony dates from the twelfth century when the Crown claimed ownership of all mute swans. Once eaten as part of a feast, swans are now carefully monitored and protected. Catch a glimpse by visiting Henley, Shiplake, Sonning, Mapledurham, Goring, Moulsford, Benson, Clifton Hampden, Culham or Abingdon.

The Environment Agency's New Lock-side Refreshment Kiosk at Molesey Lock 7 June 2013 http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/thamespath/article.asp?PageId=3&ArticleId=112 The Environment Agency’s new lock-side refreshment kiosk has officially opened at Molesey Lock. The cafe will open seven days a week during the summer season (until September 30) between 8:00 and 18:00, with reduced opening times according to weather and demand during the winter.The cafe boasts a small flower garden in which customers can sit and enjoy their refreshments, and a generous menu including hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, freshly made sandwiches and ice cream.
