Additional information

All the usual chalk grassland species of flowers and butterflies are here, a superb wildlife site. There are great views down the Ouse valley to the sea, too.The site has been used from the Bronze Age right up to WW2, when anti aircraft guns defending Lewes from the Luftwaffe were mounted here. The most obvious feature is the prominent hill fort from the Iron Age which can be seen clearly from the South Downs Way 2 miles (3km) to the south.
