Bus 28 from Brighton to Lewes runs past here every 15 minutes. To get to Brighton, cross the bridge and follow the SDW under the railway bridge before turning off left at the first path junction down to The Newmarket. Do NOT try crossing the road and walking along the verge unless you have a death wish. From Housedean Farm it is 5 miles / 8km west to Ditchling Beacon and 74 miles / 118 km west to Winchester. It is 6.5 miles /10.5km east to the River Ouse and A26 bridge at Southease station,and 26 miles/ 41km to Eastbourne.
Additional information
Although this is a lay-by it is separated from the dual carriageway by a very high bank and thick vegetation. The main road cannot be seen by horse or rider and even the noise is well screened. A bridge gives safe access to both north and south sides of road. Recommended for A27 crossing of South Downs Way .
