Additional information

A unique area - at low tide this huge rockpool is between 0 and 1 m deep. Freshwater springs keep the visibility good and the thin sandstone reef offshore shelters the Pound. Look for soft corals, sponges, a variety of crabs and other crustaceans, tube worms, Tom Pot Blennies, Sea Bass and other fish, etc. In late August look for bunches of black grapes in the water - Cuttlefish eggs, about to hatch.    Café, toilets at the far western end of the promenade (US = boardwalk) close to the beach. When you emerge from the sea there is hot chocolate and chips to be had at the nearby cafe.  There's even a Dotto train into the town centre.
