Alan Parks takes his time to enjoy the Trail and records the beauty of the landscape in photographs.

Making the most of good weather

My name is Alan Parks and I am 68 years young. As I am an outdoor person I set myself a project for my retirement, in walking The South Downs Way Trail. I have just completed it having started out on 11th April 2010 at The Queen Elizabeth Country Park walking in stages to Cheesefoot Head. I did not have much time last year as I had a lot of other commitments that took over by the end of June.

I started again this April 2011 in anger and finished my first section from Cheesefoot Head into Winchester. Then it was back to QE Park to continue on towards Eastbourne.

My walking has in the main been on odd days when the weather was fine using a combination of my car and Public Transport until I got as far as Housedean Farm on the A 27. Then I stayed in The lovely old Village of Alfriston for 3 days to complete the final 26 miles to Eastbourne which I finished on September 3rd 2011.

I have really enjoyed my walk, the scenery and the wonderful people I have met on the way.

Also as I am a keen Photographer and a member of Haslemere Camera Club I have taken a record of my walk of which are included below.
