The Ridgeway National Trail travels for 87 miles (139km) through the North Wessex Downs and the Chilterns Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in southeast England

A Ridgeway Forum is in place, with representatives from a number of user and interest groups, to advise and assist with management of the Trail.  The following organisations are represented:

  • Ramblers’ Association
  • Long Distance Walkers’ Association (LDWA)
  • Disabled Ramblers
  • Cyclists’ Tourist Club Offroad (CTC Offroad)
  • British Horse Society (BHS)
  • Motoring Organisations’ Land Access and Recreation Association (LARA)
  • Friends of The Ridgeway
  • Chiltern Society
  • Country Landowners’ Association (CLA) or National Farmers Union (NFU)
  • Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE)
  • The Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Oxfordshire County Council representing archaeological interests
