Getting To the Settle Loop

By Train

Settle is easily accessible by train from Leeds, Bradford and Skipton and is the start of the famous Settle to Carlisle railway line.  The service does carry bicycles, although you should book in advance.  Full timetables are available from the service's website

By Bus

You can get to Settle from Skipton, Ingleton and Clitheroe by bus.  Malham has services from Lancashire and West Yorkshire on summer weekends and from Skipton and Settle more frequently.  Please visit our links page to find out more about this service.

By Road

Settle is situated on the B6480, off the A65.  A number of Pay & Display public car parks are available in Settle and are signposted from the B6480. Horse boxes / trailers should approach by the junction which is south of Settle, and north of Long Preston, to avoid driving through the centre of Settle.

Parking for Horse Box/Trailer

Restricted parking is available in Settle in Greenfoot Car Park, near North Ribblesdale Rugby Club, however please note there is a 1.5 tonne (unladen) weight restriction in this car park.  You must park WITHIN the marked bays (size 2.4m x 5m).  Charges are per marked bay. If you are organising a trip for a number of people, you may wish to ask about using the rugby club's car park and facilities. Please contact them in advance to check availability and to make a booking, click on the club's link above.  There will be a cost for using the facilities which can be finalised through your discussions with the club. In Stainforth, horse boxes and trailers can use the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority car park. This links to the Settle Loop via Goatscar Lane.
