6th June - Rivers, Relics and War Stories - Mortimer Battle Walks            Book Now

We follow the River Lugg from Kingsland to Mortimers Cross, where on Candlemass Day February 2nd 1461, the houses of York and Lancaster met in bloody battle, which at the end left 4000 men dead, we will explore the battle sites, pass Blue Mantle cottage and hear about it's part in the battle. Your guide will show you maps of the location of the rival armies, the monument to the battle and you will hear what William Shakespeare wrote about the battle and the links to Richard 111.

Meet at Leominster bus station at 10.45am for a short ride to Kingsland, then a 5 mile walk, Alternative meeting place Corners Inn Kingsland at 11.15am. This walk is part of Leominster Festival. Book your place on walks at Leominster Tourist Information (01568 616460)
