11th & 12th June Fort, Fort and yet more Forts Walk with an optional Wild Swim. 8.00 miles Book now
Part of Bishop's Castle Walking Festival. This is a short flat walk exploring the flood plains between the Rivers Redlake, Clun and Teme; A glorious hinterland of lost commons, buried forts and stories of this border territory. We'll take the chance of an open water swim, followed by Fish and Chips (eaten in the next door parlour pub) in Leintwardine. We'll catch our coach after an afternoon return to Bucknell. The walk will be covering the wet meadows, taking a look at the riversides and wondering about the Roman settlements in this area. The walk will be led by Catherine Murphy who is an experienced leader of walks with Wild Swims - Shropshire, Lakes and Exmoor.
The wild swim is optional and irresistible! A lightweight towel, swim 'shoes' or old socks, costume and an extra jumper should be brought for after the swim. Fish & Chips lunch is optional. If you prefer, you may bring your own packed lunch which can be eaten in the parlour or the garden of the Sun Inn, depending on the weather
