Towering hillsides on Offa's Dyke Path

Happy New Year / The Force Awakens

13th January 2016

January has started here on the Offa's Dyke Path, very similar to how 2015 finished, rain ,rain and yet more rain. Currently though there are no actual flooded sections of the Trail, but many sections will be very muddy and waterlogged due to almost continuous rain for well over a month.

Fisrt job back in the office was clearing the back log of emails from Christmas and the New Year. Did get chance to get out on the Trail on first week back, checking some works and looking at some future projects.  My last vist up to Welshpool before Christmas, saw huge sections of the Trail underwater, but the water has now found its way back into the Severn.

Headed up onto Llanymynech Hillside at the end of the day to look at some possible works, and was rewarded with some fabulous views over the Severn Valley between the showers.

Just before Christmas the new blockbuster Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens hit the screens, part of the movie was filmed at Puzzle Wood in the Forest of Dean / Wye Valley not that far from the Trail. Star Wars characters were turning up at many locations via social media in the area, so it was to good of opportunity to miss. As you will see by the image when some Storm Troopers took a walk along the Trail near Devil's Pulpit.

Even though not in the office over Christmas and the New Year, twitter and facebook did not stop, and it was great engaging with people over the festive period via social media, with some great pictures being shared.
