N.B. The campsite is for organised groups only and all visits must be prebooked. When booking you will be asked to send a copy of your insurance documents and to ensure you have carried out a risk assessment for the camping. Groups must also have a responsible adult leader with them who will be responsible for the group members at all times. A deposit may also be asked for.
The log cabin can be hired for an additional charge which provides a heated building with a hall, 2 toilets and a basic kitchen area containing a hot water boiler and sink.
Catering can also be provided for groups of a minimum of 20 people. This could include evening meals, BBQ’s, breakfasts and packed lunches. This must all be pre booked and a deposit will be required. The tearoom is also open to the public 10.30- 4pm daily.
The toilet block is fully accessible with a ramp system and houses a disabled toilet and shower.
The Log cabin next to the campsite can be hired out and is also fully accessible and houses two fully accessible disabled toilets.
There is a hard surfaced path right around the tarn itself, which is 1.3 miles long. The path is very level with no hills and is on average 1.3m wide. It is easily accessible for electric wheelchairs. There are also plenty of benches all around the tarn path.
The tearoom is also accessible with a ramp system and a lift.
Parking is provided next to the campsite and also disabled parking for badge holders is available behind the tearoom.
The Tarn offers a wide variety of activities, truly something for everyone, ranging from the tearoom with its cosy fire and delicious cakes, rowing boat hire and gentle meandering walks for the more energetic. A full diary of events including festivals, activity days, craft fairs, exhibitions, and for the educationally minded there is a full environmental education and events programme.
There are extensive visitor facilities including, the Boathouse Tea
Room, a gift shop, toilets, bird hide, a mutli use log cabin which can
be used for a variety of purposes which is available to hire. All of the buildings are award winning examples of sustainable development using renewable energy sources.
