For anyone arriving from Holland the way to the National Trail from the Royal Quays ferry terminal is straightforward.

To go into Newcastle take the special DFDS ferry bus direct to Newcastle Central Station.  The station is a useful hub to orientate yourself around Newcastle.

To return to the Royal Quays ferry terminal take the DFDS ferry bus that leaves outside Central Station only.  It departs 14.45 and 15.15 and takes approximately 30 minutes.

To go to the start of the National Trail at Wallsend you will need to take a local bus service 17/17A from the Royal Quays Outlet Centre (opposite Wet ‘n’ Wild leisure complex) for the 30 minute journey to Wallsend Metro station.  The start of the Trail at Segedunum Roman Fort is then only a three minute walk away.
