A well planned event will generally generate goodwill amongst local landowners, communities and with local businesses especially they benefit economically from the event. Landowners and farmers in particular, depend on the management of the landscape for their livelihoods. Organisers must take great care to minimise disturbance to stock, farming operations and to field boundaries, as well as ensuring that participants do not create excessive noise and antisocial behaviour. There are also many local suppliers who could be considered when procuring for the event. It would also be advisable to contact local press to highlight the event and of any benefit that it is bringing to the local economy.
It is recommended that organisers make contact with the relevant local organisations and landowners well in advance of the event.

- Have we given ourselves sufficient planning time to organise this event and consult with local interests?
- Is the timing of our event going to hinder farming operations e.g. lambing time (mid-April – mid-May), ground nesting bird rearing, etc.?
- Will our event cause disturbance to residents or landowners by taking place at unsociable hours?
- Will our event put something back into the community?
