Access & Land Management Issues
The majority of the land is privately owned and is farmed under tenancy agreement from the various estates. Care is needed to avoid livestock disturbance during calving and lambing periods in the spring and autumn. From the site at Carrawburgh car park to the National Park boundary the route follows the Hadrian’s Wall Path. Note: Extra care is needed to cross the B6318, a fast and dangerous road, at High Teppermoor (see map). From here, the route continues east to Limestone Corner and from this point to Blackcarts the archaeology is unconsolidated and fragile. There are no wet weather alternative routes. Event planners are requested to be familiar with new Open Access legislation that applies to land either side of the route (see http://www.countrysideaccess.gov.uk). National Trust byelaws apply on their estate, particularly for dog owners. Note: National Park Rangers will monitor all Event activities to assess their impact on the surrounding environment.
