Fort to Fort Walk 2007
Come Friends and Citizens, Walk Fort to Fort, Arbeia (South Shields) to Segedunum (Wallsend).

Join the guided history walk. A lunch stop at Bede's World.
Walk through the Pedestrian tunnel, part of the Tyne Tunnel. Opened on 24th July 1951 as a public right of way (open 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, is free of any toll). The tunnels are 900ft (275M) long and have a vertical descent of 85ft. The escalators are 200ft long, each escalator has 306 steps making them the longest single span wooden escalators in the world.
