Rievaulx Pilgrimage

Begin your day in the picturesque market town of Helmsley. Browse the shops and tea rooms or explore the Castle. Visit the beautiful Walled Garden or see rare and endangered species at the International Centre for Birds of Prey.

Then follow in the footsteps of Saint Aelred of Rievaulx, one of Yorkshire’s most famous abbots and visit Rievaulx Abbey, which is one of the most complete and atmospheric of England’s abbey ruins.

Set in a remote valley in the North York Moors National Park, you can enjoy the beautiful grounds, watch action packed events, eat delicious cakes and local fare in the café and learn about the Abbey and its monks at the museum and exhibition.

You can walk from Helmsley to Rievalux Abbey along the Cleveland Way National Trail. Visit the Top 10 Trail Experiences website to download the leaflet.
