Closure of start at Hessle

There is currently a closure of the path close to the start of the Yorkshire Wolds Way at Hessle Foreshore.  This is expected to last until sometime during June 2013.  Updates will be put on this site as soon as they are available

This closure is necessary due to major works being carried out by Network Rail to stabilise the banks of the Humber Estuary.  There is still access to the start and the Humber Bridge area, but it is closed on the foreshore length east of this.

There is no reasonable alternative route, so for walkers following the full route it will need to be started from North Ferriby instead of Hessle during this period.  North Ferriby is on the rail network, and accessible from Hull, Hessle and York by rail.

If you are booked in at Hessle, it is still worth a trip to the start of the route to stroll by the impressive Humber Bridge, before hopping on the train to North Ferriby.
