DELETENorth Meadow Fritillary Walk

DELETENorth Meadow Fritillary Walk

Start: 6 April 2013 - 2:00pm
End: 6 April 2013 - 4:00pm

Description

Around eighty per cent of Britain’s snake’s head fritillaries grow at North Meadow.
This is a beautiful and nationally scarce flower, so named after the shape of the flower bud before it opens and the snakeskin pattern on its petals. As well as the fritillaries North Meadow has a great variety of wildflowers and is of international importance as one of the finest examples of a lowland hay meadow in Europe. The National Nature Reserve is open to the public at all times, but you can also join a guided tour led by the Reserve Manager. Displays about the research carried out by the Floodplain Meadows Partnership on North Meadow can be seen in the Fritillary Tea Room by the Town Bridge. Refreshments and toilets are available there.
