• South Downs Way 5 year Management Plan now available http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/Southdowns/article.asp?PageId=3&ArticleId=20 After consultation with partners, user groups and interested parties the new 5 year management plan for the South Downs Way National Trail is now available to view.

• Wessex100 Start: 23 May 2009 - 9:00am Location: SDW between Beacon Hill and Bignor Hill 100 mile endurance walk including part of the South Downs Way.
• 30th annual South Downs Way Walk Start: 5 June 2009 - 9:00am Location: Eastbourne to Winchester A traditional 9 day walk along the whole of the South Downs Way from Eastbourne to Winchester suitable for all the family.
  Based on daily coach pick ups from a choice of places in West Sussex with return coach in the afternoon.
• South Downs Relay Start: 6 June 2009 - 8:00am Location: The whole of the South Downs Way An annual running relay event. This event is by invertation only. Expect about 50 teams of 6 runners.
• South Downs Marathon and Relay Start: 13 June 2009 - 8:00am Location: Slindon to QECP A relay marathon - about 450 people taking part, along the South Downs Way from Slindon College to Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Petersfield
• South Downs Way Randonee Challenge Start: 27 June 2009 - 9:00am Location: Three start points offering 100, 65, and 35 miles A Sponsored cycling event in add of the British Heart Foundation along the whole of the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne.
• Heart of Sussex Walk 2009 Start: 28 June 2009 - 8:00am Location: SDW between Clayton ans Alfriston Four walks along the South Downs between Clayton Windmills and Alfriston, with distances of 5 miles, 8 miles, 15 miles or 21 miles.
• ARIM Runners & Riders for Shelter Start: 4 July 2009 - 10:00am Location: SDW between Washington and Ditchling Beacon A small private sponsored run and cycle ride in aid of the homeless charity Shelter.
• University of Southampton SDW Challenge Start: 9 July 2009 - 7:00am Location: Whole of SDW A small sponsored cycle ride organised by the University of Southampton. 10 cyclists are taking part. Raising money in aid of Rose Road appeal in aid of disabled children. You can support their fund raising at www.justgiving.com/southdownscyclechallenge.
• Hike for Hospices Start: 22 August 2009 - 8:00am Location: Lewes to Goodwood A major sponsored walk for four local hospices, St Barnabas House, The Martlets Hospice, St Peter & James, and St Wilfrids Hospice - up to 2000 people expected to take part.
