St George s dates from the 13th Century and has a fine 15th Century tower that appears to rise from the road! A most unusual feature of this tower is that it has a passage that allowed processions to walk around the church without leaving concecrated ground. The church clock, one of the oldest in the country, was made in the early 17th Century. The porch at the south door is in two storeys, with a room above the porch propoer entered from an interior staircase. Notable features within the church are a 13th Century font, a 14th Century rood screen with seven candlesticks (possibly added in 18th Century) and a umber of brasses on the floor in front of the chancel screen, the earliest is dated 1498.
